Modern and sustainable forest bungalows

Stylishly designed and environmentally sustainable, the 30 forest bungalows at Rio Perdido provide a peaceful retreat amidst the awe-inspiring beauty of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province.

Each bungalow at our lodge is accessed by elevated pathways that connect to general hotel pathways and hiking trails; they are built in a modular format, in order to ensure minimal environmental impact. The design is warm and clean, with wood accents, stainless steel, nylon rope and polished concrete floors. Thoughtful in-room perks include complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV and a contemporary bathroom with a lighted makeup mirror.

East Bungalows

While no two of our East Bungalows are exactly alike, all of them offer the same features and amenities. They are 42 square mts, and consist of a cozy, comfortable bedroom and bathroom with an elevated terrace with a hammock. The rooms have two twin beds on industrial rollers, which can be moved together to form a king-sized bed. One of these beds also has a trundle underneath. The bungalows can accommodate couples, solo travelers and parents with one child. Additional amenities include a mini fridge/coffee station, a desk area, a multimedia area with a flat-screen TV and a closet. The bathroom offers a lighted makeup mirror, floor-to-ceiling sandblasted windows and showers with ceramic tile and glass finishing.

Center Bungalows

The lush exterior forest is projected into a very comfortable and protected room space, through sweeping, floor-to-ceiling windows. The units offer ample sleeping quarters, a small entry vestibule, a spacious terrace, as well as an exceptional bathroom concept, focused on optimizing the Rio Perdido wellness experience. All in all, there are about 69 square mts of carefully designed bungalow space.

Hand-crafted furniture employs materials including raw solid steel, pure copper, and fine hardwoods. Walls are made of singed wood, treated with an ancient Japanese burning technique that vastly augments the woods durability. It is complemented with inert, black concrete panels. All the floor is made of beautiful, locally quarried volcanic rock tiles. The side-by side outdoor showers are accessed from the bathroom area only, within a steel shell that provides 100% privacy for its users. A high-definition projector and high quality pull-down screen are complemented by a sound bar with its own, dedicated subwoofer. If guests do not wish to use the AV system, the rolled screen can stay out of sight.

The Center Bungalows offer one king-sized bed and two twins or an additional king bed can be set up making them the perfect space for a couple or family setting.

West Bungalows

Our newest room category. The West Bungalows are built on a very special section of the property, a short distance from the inspiring Rio Blanco Canyon. The project took three years to conceptualize and brings together clean aesthetics with modern and effective practices in sustainable development.

Our flagship bungalow boast an elegant yet simple layout, with a total roofed area of nearly 88 square mts. The 16 square mts open-air entrance terrace is ideal for private, in-room dining, and affords beautiful views of the forest, high above the Rio Blanco Canyon. At the other end of the bungalow, there is another covered open terrace (13 square mts) with double outdoor shower and a custom-made oversized tub, with three spigots, to include the naturally occurring hyper-mineralized thermal water.

The bedroom, interior lounge, and internal bathroom area comprise nearly 55 square mt of closed space, with giant floor to ceiling windows, and central A/C. There is a large custom sculpted sink with two separate faucets and a private toilet room. The room finishes include dozens of details crafted in sustainably farmed hardwoods including the artisanal ceilings.

For those guests that must have TV access, there is a hidden 65” UHD TV that can be accessed in seconds.
